5 Facts About The Manipura Chakra
#1 – Solar Plexus Chakra
Your belly button, the navel is where the solar plexus is centered.

#2 – Psychological & Emotional Associations
The Solar Plexus Chakra focuses on self-definition and personal power. So, psychologically, the third chakra denotes your Right to Act.
When you feel powerful, you will take more meaningful actions. When you feel helpless or lacking confidence, you will lose your ability to act.
#3 – Relationship with Physical Body
Because your solar plexus is about self-definition, this is also the reason you cross your arms around yourself when you’re in a position that makes you feel like you’re giving your power away.
The internal organs which are associated and affected by the energy center are the digestive system, gallbladder and liver.
#4 – Relationship with Diet
The third chakra is fueled by starch-based foods.
#5 – Examples of an Imbalanced Solar Plexus
- Procrastination
If you are constantly delaying or resisting life-changes, it is the sign of inertia, and an unbalanced solar plexus. And an otherwise balanced third chakra demonstrates higher will power and a go-go-go movement.
- Submissive
The inability to stand in your own Light, and to be easily dominated by others, is a sign of a weak solar plexus.
- Uncertainty
Constantly seeking validation from others.
Relying on other people’s advice.
Becoming spiritually obsessed with daily tarot readings.
These are all repercussions when your solar plexus is out of alignment.
- Pot Belly
A bloated center (overstimulated), or in contrast, a sunken diaphragm (understimulated) are indicators that the power play in your energy center is off balance.

- Poor Metabolism
Excess weight, the inability to digest food, metabolism all indicate an unbalanced Manipura.
Questions To Evaluate Your Manipura Chakra’s Health
Your answers to the following questions will help you self-assess the health of your Manipura Chakra, and if you’re in need to work on balancing this energy center.
- How energetic are you?
- Is your digestion and metabolism good?
- Are you confident?
- Are you easily dominated?

#2 – Work on your behavior.
Here are the key things worth working on :
- Do something different.
Be conscious about being lazy, and break yourself away from inertia by doing small activities that get you going. Especially patterns that create a mundane routine – these are the biggest enemy of your third chakra.
- Laugh. A lot! And often.
Ever seen Sadhguru laugh, how his belly moves? This is the kind of hearty, belly laugh you need to have every day, in order to get your blocked solar plexus churning out some fresh energy again!

- Start closing the loop on activities.
People, plans and destiny change – and if you’re no longer seeing result for something, be mindful of when it’s the right time to leave. Being hung-up on things that do not bring you results for long periods will overtime bring a huge blow on your self-esteem.
- Practice Self-love.
So this is where all the new-agey self-love and self-care talks come from. Taking care of your physical, mental, spiritual well-being are all a part of your duty to self, as are these 7 daily practices.
#3 – Wear or carry crystals like Amber and Topaz.
I purchased my crystals through an online vendor, R. R. Sheikh through Amazon. I can vouch for their authenticity, pricing and the healing capacity of the crystals from personal experience. So if you’re looking for a good shop, try them out.
#4 – Practice Karma Yoga
To be a Karma Yogi takes a certain kind of inner awareness and calm, that Michael Singer explains beautifully and simply. But for a good place to start, here are some basic yoga exercises to balance your Manipura Chakra :
- Bow Pose (Dhanurasana)
- Woodchopper, also great to help blow of steam
- Stomach Crunches (yes, seriously)
#5 – Foods to Support the Solar Plexus
A diet rich in whole grain foods will help your body and the third energy center. And on the other hand, too much of easily processed food (like sugar) will inturn imbalance the solar plexus.

Concluding Thoughts
The chakra system is completely related to day-to-day life. And even if we never knew we were balancing our chakras by certain basic activities, indeed it’s happening.
So, now the objective should be to reach higher stages of balance. And, it only takes a little knowledge to start balancing your energy centers consciously.
So just as is the message of the Solar Plexus – get started!
